Gday- Live down in New Plymouth and looking for suggestions on a spot to launch from and spend a few days away, out of Taranaki.
Boat is a 15ft fibreglass, 75hp and goes well but I’m fairly inexperienced so somewhere easy to get out would be preference.
Waikato area is probably the area I’m looking at, been to Coromandel a bunch.
Appreciate any advice, cheers.👍

Fantail Bay is nice and there's a DOC campsite. Fishing is good too.

You mention Waikato area, and technically the only Waikato coastline is west, with bar crossings (unless you want to harbour fish Raglan, Aotea or Kawhia?). If youre inexperienced, bar crossings wouldn't be a good idea.

Coro has lots of options on both coasts, so you could find somewhere there you haven't been?

I like Muppet's suggestion of a little bit further north - Auckland's northern fringe.  Sandspit offers a good sheltered ramp (if you're okay to pay), otherwise there are lots of beach ramps which good but are a bit tidal, so best at the half tide or above if you want to keep your vehicle out of the water. Lots of islands and coastline to provide shelter in most winds - as at this time of year, it's rare to get windless days.
Camping options all around there.

As TKK said beware of the West coast Harbour  River bars. Maybe PM Snappa Geoff. He is a small boat/big snapper expert and is closer to home. He's a good guy, I'm sure he wont mind giving some advice

if you do have a bit of juice to drive further north to BOI Urupukapuka Island is a pretty safe bet. Doc campsite. I've got my PB king there.
