Northland Kayak Fishing Classic 2020

Northland Kayak Fishing Classic 2020

Northland Kayak Fishing Classic 2020

Diary the date - Labour Weekend, 23-25 October.

Northland is renown for both big snapper and massive kingfish and is the ideal location for the annual Viking Kayak Fishing Competition.

This year the annual Early-bird prize draw is a $2,000 Bixpy electric motor valued at over $2,000 or $1,000 cash! Register here before September 1st to be in the draw.

Registration between 2pm - 7pm Friday at the Tikipuna Tavern,  3 Wanaka Street, Tikipunga, Whangarei and must be completed in person to give all competitors a level playing field and to ensure the rules and safety briefing is clear to everyone. Weigh-in is at the same location from 2pm to 4pm Sunday, followed by prize-giving.

Following registration, anglers can fish anywhere legally allowed - Bixpy motors and other propulsion systems are allowed.

Salt ice will be available at the Friday night briefing - $5 for a big 10kg bag to keep your catch in primo condition for pre-orders - order HERE

Anglers are advised to download and use the Coastguard app, especially if they don't have a VHF radio. It’s a free app available on Apple and Android devices and a great way of logging a trip report.

The comp will be rescheduled or entry fees returned if it can't be run on the current date due to COVID-19 restrictions coming into force.

The same applies if people can't make it due to being in an area in lock down.
