BRP announced today that they are closing Evinrude down permanently because of the virus.

Evinrude NZ have said that they will honour warranties and will be able to supply parts etc but for how long?

I've got a shiny new Etec G2 250HO with less than 10hrs on the clock....

A sad day for all Outboard manufactures.
Hope the G2 250HO is buillet proof.

Not good and just bought motor - I feel for you - nothing you can do but will make it harder to get parts/service in 5 or 10 years.
Good fishing trip nothing breaks, great trip catch fish.

BRP are still in business and selling jet skis here. Parts will still be available but for how long? And more importantly what about dealers? Etec trained techs will be a rare thing in ten years.

At the end of the day they just weren’t making money on outboards. Shame.
