The cooking oil..a can of olive or canola cooking oil in the shed is a must..spray, taces, hooks , knives, even the smoker, bbq to keep rust at bay.
And spray smoker racks after washing.

yeah that's a good way to apply the oil....I've heard a number of people saying the petroleum based oils put the fish off if you apply to hooks, the natural based oils are the way to go....

I heard that as well.. used to use crc and lanocoate
neither seemed to make any difference either way.
 Lanocoate, is the best but gets expensive..and over kill.
