Team, help please ?
the merc wont rev out at all from idle, fuel system has been checked and carbs , sounds like a miss as well, could that be the coils, motor not old or had extreme use. any thoughts or experience would be helpful, as i don't want 3 different boat yards charging for hrs and hrs of (diagnosis) for what could be a reasonably easily rectified issue. motor was brilliant, had a reasonable top end run, stopped for a drift fish then went to motor off and just died, had to idle home.still doing same from a cool start as well.

I don’t know the answer but I used to own a 2007 model, it was a rebadged Tohatsu M40d2. If yours is the same I have a workshop manual for it. May be helpful.

Thank you, emailed 5 places, only 1 replied, got it next day brilliant service. Promt Marine parts Auckland.
I'll keep that referral on file.
All sorted now, interesting, i was told it would be 10 days from states nothing available in NZ by one repairer.

Make sure the fuel mixture is right, if the mixture does not have the correct oil mixture it will possibly shutdown at higher revs.

If it is self mixing see if you can bypass the self mixing or just put a bit more oil in the fuel to compensate incase the self mixing is not working.
