Great day Sunday at little barrier. We fish this area annually throughout the winter months in target of big snapper. It has never ending great country, likely to hold XOS snapper.

On the road at 5am to Omaha, first stop Ti point to full up on livies, well not today, couldnt catch a single oneConfused. A bugger, as live macs are like gold for large snaps on dusk.

Started the morning after a bumpy ride out soft baiting the shallows around the northern side, slow fishing, however producing a 12lb snap.

Had some lunch at one of the bays, hard up to towering cliff faces, what a place, while we fished for Mao Mao for bait for the much anticipated bait and berley fish in the evening

At about 1ish we straylined a rocky outcrop with nice tidal flow, a few snaps and two kings graced the deck, kept one for the bin and let the other go.

With the wind now settled, moved around the corner for a further softbait, not a touch....

Set up around 3ish for our bait and berley session inclose. Berley, berley and more berley. This spot I fish is tough territory, boulders, kelp, the lot. With the excellent bite time predicted, fish came on relatively quick, size increasing as the sun set. 30 mins before sunset it went nuts on big fish. Full fillets of Mao Mao, big snapper were engulfing way out the back. Unfortunately both anglers not being able to stop any of these freight trains, 100lb trace being bitten or broken off.

Limit of snaps and a few other species, called it a day at 7 as mr bronzie turned up. We will be back another day. Singlets and shorts during some parts of the day, nearly mid June.

Thanks for the enjoyable report. Would have been a beautiful day to be out there once the overnight wind died off.
Sounds like the softbaiting was a bit tough, but you were rewarded with the bait session.
