Have a Talica 12 with pe6 on a Shimano energy concept pe 4-6.

Is this to light for White Island or can I get away with it?

it depends what you hook. will generally be fine but some times there is no gear that will stop them.

might get away with, but you'll be spewing if that fish of a lifetime hooks up and you can't stop it. A PE8 set would give you a fighting chance

Talica 12 will be a reasonable match to PE6.

If you want heavier PE8 line, then the Talica 12 probably won't have the drag performance to match.

White has a full range form rats to monsters.  Choose your target fish then tackle up for it.
give it death!

I am no expert but I used a Talica 12 at the 3 kings with PE10 Berkley braid on two separate trips. Whilst capacity wasnt the best I never got dusted on kings but we were only dropping in about 60-70m of water so didn't need a full spool of braid. Good luck
