Sunday Morning we caught a few nice Snaps just on light on the surfcasters around 60/70cm - it had been a long morning starting at 3am. Most went back as we were doing another set on the Kontiki before heading home. As the sun rose we packed up and headed back down the beach and once again there were Gannets on the move, we were hoping to find somewhere away from them but 5mins into the set they turned up dive bombing around our torpedo. The next problem we had the batteries died as it only hit half way right in the middle of the work up. Oh well looks like it's going to be a full string of Kahawai - yesterday we noticed most guys setting they were only roughly 700 - 1000mtrs out pulling in Kahawai after Kahawai. We were a little disappointed but the only thing going for us was the sun was still low in the sky and the tide was on the rise, we thought we would only soak it for 40mins as we also needed to get back down the beach. Hitting 40mins Stevo flicked the switch - Ha once again Stevo said it felt like a bit of weight and not being out so far with in 10mins the first fish appeared, it was a nice Snap then a Gurnard then a Snap - we looked puzzled but excited. Once again hooks were coming in debated but also a little more fish attached. Another nice Snap around 50cm another Gurnard and more nice Snaps. "WHERE WERE ALL THE KAHAWAI" not one hook had a Kahawai - we were very surprised, with all hooks in we ended up with another 7 nice Snaps and 3 Gurnard to take home with us. Man what an awesome end to an awesome weekend... Just love the West coast time for bed :-) Tight lines Fish Whisperer REEL KIWI Fishing #lovemyfishing
