Hi fellas, I’m wondering if anyone has experienced this frustrating phenomena and can shed any light for me. After reading multiple online forums and fixes I am no closer to solving the riddle.
I have a shimano Stella 14000 which and a noisey line roller, the obvious solution was to swap out the two bearings inside. These obviously didn’t last two seconds as they weren’t genuine shimano quality...
Or so I thought. The bearings lasted a couple of trips and needed replacing. I striped the line roller down and filled it with as much bantam grease as it could take. Problem solved. For about 20 casts it was silky smooth. Then noise crept in again. Ok then, time for some different bearings. Good quality stainless steal. After pulling the line roller apart about 20 times and putting back together at different tensions it still makes noise. The bearings are fine. The line comes on and off the Reel absolutely fine, there is just a sandy light grinding noise in the roller which is amplified through rod and reel under load. Almost as though something is spinning in there that shouldn’t be. Has anyone ever experienced this? The next step is to send it for another service, however....It is peak fishing season, and I need that sucker!
