Fort Lauderdale Fishing with Top Shot Sportfishing Charter Boat and Capt. Zsak

Brothers, John and Jason Leon, from Daytona Beach chartered the Top Shot Sportfishing charter boat team to do some deep sea charter boat sport fishing in Fort Lauderdale, FL.  We had good conditions with easterly winds and clear skies with temperatures in the 50's

We started out trolling the reef in 150 ft. of water by the sea buoy in Fort Lauderdale, 1.8 miles from shore, with four surface lines with Ballyhoo for bait and two plainer lines with sea witches.  I started heading south of Fort Lauderdale, as the water color was cleaner, and the current came closer to shore - you can clearly see where the blue water meets the green water.  The first fish we caught was a Kingfish weighing about 10 pounds - he ate the sea witch on the long plainer.  We continued trolling, and about an hour later, we hooked up with a double header Bonito, catching both fish.

As we were heading to the south of Fort Lauderdale, I noticed birds flying around offshore with random showers of bait, so we started heading off to deeper waters.  Once we got out to 600 ft. of water, a line came down - we had a Mahi Mahi on. Jason was the angler, and he did a good job battling the Mahi Mahi and bringing him to the side of the boat.  Matt, our mate, gaffed the Mahi Mahi and put him in the fish box.  We continued to troll offshore catching another Mahi Mahi and a Skipjack Tuna.

It was now time to head back to the dock.   The anglers retired into the a/c salon and enjoyed the relaxing trip back to the dock at Bahia Bar Yachting Center, 801 Seabreeze Blvd. Fort Lauderdale 33316.   Matt filet out the catches for the Leon brothers to take home and enjoy.
