Smashed a few Canada's on Sunday, they decoyed well, nothing beats those big bombers when they swoop in over a well set spread, the ultimate game bird

Recently taken off the gamebird list,
See https://fishandgame.org.nz/assets/Uploads/Canada-Geese-status.pdf
So you can hunt all year and even use a .22 etc.
I have a heap of decoys if your keen on a mission one day.

Thanks for that. Will have to have a chat with him about knocking a few over. They seem to invade one of his paddocks pretty regularly so will grill him for a bit more info about their movements.

Haven't tried one to eat so are they much stronger flavor than duck or are they quite tasty roasted like a duck? Seem to remember talk about just breasting them out? Is that because the legs etc are really stringy?

Yea just breast them out, large bird so plenty of meat on the breast, I like to crumb and shallow fry.
aparently 3 geese can eat the same as a cow so most farmers are very keen to have them bowled over.

Big birds to cook whole, need a fair team to eat it, as of now they are pairing up, if you can bowl a pair, pick the small one (female) and this will be tender, the ganders are tough as old boots, good for snags, you will know when skinning off the breasts which ones to keep aside for schniztal.

Cheers
