Well...its been pissing down in Perth Wa...so i decided to read some reel reviews by Alan Hawk(the legend).......
I read quite a few of them but wanted to read about the 2008 SW range and then about the SWB (newer model).......
I made the mistake of buying a newer swb spool in 14000 off a dood over here...expecting it to fit my sw 2008 10,000 but found it would not fit.(fortunately i got my money back)........Some joker on a forum over here ....reckoned i could change the washers to allow the 14000 to fit my sw 10000(2008) but according to alan that is a bad idea.....see Blurb below.
According to Alan....the increased amount of drag available from the 14000 swb spool could put overdue pressure on the body of my 2008 model.......
If this is correct......then The Jm monster spools ...namely the 16000 for the sw 10,000 and i think the JM Monster 20,000 could well do the same thing on the SW 10,000/18,000/20,000 2008 version.......because those Jm spools have more drag washers in them....than the stella spools have and a crazy amount of max drag pressure available......Far higher than the stella spools.........
So to all the 2008 SW 8,000/10,000/18,000/20.000 users out there who have JM Monster spools that they use on their reels........I say "Tread Carefully ! "...hmmm......read for yourself=
" Finally, the new Stella comes in 5 size families, and spools and handles and drag knobs are interchangeable between the members of each of these families. 1st family has only one member which is the 4000 size, 2nd family is the 5000/6000 reels, 3rd family comprises 8000/10000/14000 sizes, 4th is 18000/20000, and the 5th family has only the 30000. There is also good compatibility between the 2008 and 2013 models; spools are interchangeable between the old and new 4000 size reels, the old and new 5000/6000 size reels, and between the old and new 18000/20000 size reels. Spools from the new 8000/10000/14000 reels wouldn't fit on the bodies of the old 8000/10000 reels because the spool hub washers are too big on the old reels, and although you can replace those washers with the smaller ones from the new Stella to make it accept the spools of the 2013 models, it's not recommended because the new spools can generate more maximum drag than the old spools in this size class, and that could push the bodies of the old 8000/10000 dangerously close to the breaking point. Those bodies of the 2008 reels were designed with a proper safety margin for the maximum pressure generated by the old spools, but not the increased drag of the new spools."
Once the idiots turn up..Im outta here...No time for Drama Queens.
