Cicada pattern only today.
3 small ones, then 3 1.5kg rainbows - all but 1 blind fished.
Then, to a pool that always seems to have some nice fish....spotted 3 and just about to cast then saw a whopper rainbow just 2 metres away under grass bank.....never cast, just dibbled my fly close to nose and immediate strike....5 lb rainbow.
Next cast to a fish behind a stone....swallowed the same cicada and my best brown for many years.
Next cast to far bank and another 4lb rainbow.
3 good fish in 3 casts...can't beat that so packed up and came home.

Been using a 4 wt double taper with a floating furled leader and extra mono. Makes casting so easy and turns over so well.

A month later and another visit to my favourite stream.

An excellent day for 10 rainbows and 2 browns - all nice fish between 3 to 4 lb and all on cicada pattern. 4 hours fishing with 40 minutes spent on just one fish, which I eventually scared off.
Love seeing a trout coming up from a deep lie and drift backwards under the fly. Half were blind casts.
Another 2 or 3 weeks of cicada.

Sounds good - might have to check it out before the cicadas get too scarce
