What's the cheapest type of meat? Dear balls. They're under a buck.

Many a trip to Devonport and back when I was youngster on the Kestral. Bloody sad to hear. Now the poor preservation guys are going to have to deal with all the disposal and clean up as well. Sad day for Aucklands maritime history

How did that happen. Restored boats dont usually fall apart in the middle of the night-do they.?
Great memories on that boat. Grandfather used to work on the Kestrel. Still have his old oil skin drovers coat he used to wear then. Now glad i have kept it. Came so close to binning it .

The bulk carrier in the background didnt have anything to do with it by any chance.?
Seems to be a lot of debris for a boat that only sank. looks like it has broken up.

The problem with the Kestrel and Toroa is that they finished their working life long ago. They had limited if any alternative use without spending a fortune and the maintenance alone is huge. Plus, they are big ferries and needed somewhere to tie up. I know we tend to have a fondness for the past but not everything can be preserved. History is a living thing created every day. Will we say the same about Fullers Quick Cat's in 50 years.
