Scraped these off my Hard Drive, where they've been lurking unused since they arrived!
Don't recall typing them in, so probably leeched them from elsewhere - Apologies if they were from your webpage
Probably well known, but you never know.
Enjoy

The Barges
GPS 174 50.533E 36 48.639S
Off the corner of Rangitoto Island is an area regularly used as an anchorage for large barges that carry sand to Auckland for glass manufacture. If these barges have been in residence for a reasonable period they attract fishlife. It is a good spot to catch jack mackerel for baits, and snapper, kingfish and trevally can be taken here. Anchor up current of the barge and strayline back under it.
Rangi Foul
GPS 174 50.278E 36 48.41S
This reasonably extensive patch of foul ground is a good snapper feeding area in early morning and at dusk. Line up a prominent point on Rangitoto (marked with a post) with North Head and fish 200 to 300 metres offshore. Use light lines and as little lead as possible. Cast away from the boat. Burley is helpful. Should be fished with tide running.
Number 4
GPS 174 50.175E 36 48.024S
There is an area of broken reef running from Number Four Buoy towards the Rangitoto shoreline. Locate the fish on the leeward side of the reef (the downside of the tide flow), then go back up current so that you are fishing back up the reef face. Your bait and berley will bring the fish over the structure and you will lose less terminal tackle.
Around Number Two Buoy
GPS 174 49.914E 36 47.735S
The bottom undulates. Snapper will sit in these holes as the strong tidal flow brings the food to them. Ledger rigs work well in strong tides, or a running sinker and long trace
Lighthouse Channel
GPS 174 49.398E 36 47.187S
A clean channel runs between the rock with Rangitoto lighthouse on it and the main island. Can be fished from shore. Snapper at dawn and dusk and kahawai can be caught in daylight hours.
Rangi Light
GPS 174 49.199E 36 46.903S
A well known spot about 100 metres out from the lighthouse. Still produces good snapper at dawn and dusk. A foul bottom can mean the loss of gear, though.
Rocky Bay
GPS 174 50.048E 36 46.254S
The rocky fringes of a small bay here can produce big snapper on a floating bait right on dark.
Whangaparaoa to Rangitoto
GPS 174 50.558E 36 45.726S
Areas of low foul and horse mussel beds a mile or so out form the Rangitoto shore often produces snapper from 3 to 5 kg in the warmer months. When fishing areas of horse mussels, check your trace and line for any damage that occurs as a result of being dragged over the sharp shells.
A good place just off Rangi which I find quite good, you get good pan sized snapper. Just to go this point and drift, hopefully you will drift closer to Rangi, move back when it gets too shallow.
