Hi    Any more news about the tuna.      Was anchored just north of Saddleback on Christmas Eve and had several tuna rolling past me no more than 50m on either side of me.     No birds with them.     No idea whether they were Skippies, Albies or small blue fin as all have black backs.

35kg yellowfin weighed Thursday Herb. Caught near the knuckle. 12.8 kg albie weighed 3/1 caught off Waikawau. Tuna are wide-spread.

I've never known day like it as happened out of the Manukau today. We must have been the only boat that didn't see a yellowfin. There were pretty much everywhere by all accounts from 50m to 115m. We saw only one marlin chasing saury but there were reports of up to 8 marlin pack attacks. Doubles were commonplace. Channel 63 was just going off. One guy casting stick baits to YFT hooked and landed a stripey. It was nuts.

What a great day.
Those that say it can't be done are being overtaken by those doing it.

It was indeed Yknot. I weighed 2 YFT's for a Junior & Small Fry angler last night. They didn't get on the water until 2pm and they got one each around 30kg. They had another much bigger one get sharked at the boat and they gave the remains to me for weighing their fish. It was much bigger than the other two and what was left was 20kg at least. I got around 15kg of meat off it. Big mako that bit that in half!
