So kiwi, so brilliant.

Something many fisherman could understand, but those who chase gamefish really will respect, capture, landing Taggers.

Big ups for those fisherpersons.

Angler epic result, skipper and crew and those who helped.

Thanks Al for your continuous fishing real time updates.
All gold.

Epic,

That's a ****e load of sushi...

Cos if you cook it your a neantherdal.

Would be interesting on how people look after there catch and what they do with there food, in respect to blue fin.

Are they snapper in the bin,"she will be right".

Or go to the appropriate Japanese formula of respect and culinary enjoyment.

No of course not,

It's just what your palate likes, I get that.

To me it seems a shame to waste the highest end fish in that way.
But that's on me not you.

Might have been a W/R had the trace and windon not been over length. This is the second SBT caught around this weight from this boat, looks like my Friday night drinks with these clowns is going to be painful

WR is 167.5kg, it would have been a NZ record though.

Well done.  another great ad for stabi by the way... seen boat at boat show couple of years ago.
Designed and customised for what it is meant for ...to catch  fish with very good anglers clearly evidenced by this result.

From the Red Gill Lures team.Clap

Last week I took a break from Red Gill Lures and took the Western Break east for a few days with Alan Langdon & Hadley Greenhalgh to chase the Southern Bluefin. Our goal was to catch one fish each to take home, tag a few, and then chase a record on 10kg line if we had time. We had an awesome trip and ticked all the boxes. Our first SBT was a PB for the boat at 137.2kg caught by Alan and it is the first SBT we have caught that put up much of a fight on 37kg line. It took us around 30 minutes to boat. This fish acted a bit like a Marlin on the strike, pulling the rigger lure out of the peg then going to the other rigger before finally nailing the RG1 -Evil on the shotgun after taking a good long look at it first. After that we caught multiple SBT every day, tagging 5 and processing 3 more immediately after capture to take home. All were around 60kg-90kg except one small fish I estimated at 20-25kg which was one of the fish we tagged. We also caught our share of pesky monster Albacore. The last day we dedicated to chase Hadley's record and we voted him as the angler since it was his idea. We only ran two lures. One on 37kg, and we ran an RG1 Kohe on a 4.4 meter leader on the 10kg. Our first fish was on the 10kg and turned out to be a 23kg Alby. Most of the Tuna we were marking were down at 90 meters but we went over a group of 5 Bluefin that were showing at 40 meters on the Raymarine sounder and I was just spitting out "get ready" when the 10kg got monster'd. The 37kg also got taken on the retrieve but luckily Alan managed to shake it off. After two hours Alan finally managed to get a Wrap on the end of the leader and we managed to boat the fish, which we immediately took in to the weigh station. The fish went 82kg and should be a new 10kg NZ record, beating the existing 30.5kg NZ record. I have added a screen shot from my new Raymarine Axiom Pro sounder unit, showing the five SBT just as we got the bite from the record fish. This 1kw Sounder is still amazing me at what a game changer it is. We ended up catching 10 SBT, Tagging and releasing 5, taking three home, and giving two fish to the locals. All of the fish were caught on RG1 lures in Kohe, RG-Evil, RG-Lumo, & Sanma colour.
