Yeah there's some nice water 300plus north east of knights its 22 degrees. Lots of manta rays.. was out yesterday. No bite for us but looked pretty good. Short trip as we snorkelling in morning at knights.
Saw 121kg striped weighed this arvo at WDSA and there were a few fish on the board. Seems to be fishing better up mumu way.
Few bites including the fished weighed today and another yesterday starting to happen in sub 200 meters in green water in closer mumu and one capture yesterday inside Kumera patch.

Spent some time on the water today.

There are fish here, one boat caught one beside me, I'll never forgive him.

Water very warm, increased with the day, started out at 21 and down to 20 at the 400m.
Upon return it was getting to twenty three and hard to find anything below 21.

Bird life was sporadic for me as was bait. There were small pockets spread far and wide.

The fishing for some overall was good though. There were a number of blues raised, dropped hooked and landed. One went 230kg.
There were a number of short bills landed as well.
Striped Marlin were also there in the mix.
First bite was from about 10.30am till 12.30. And ESE of the Brett at 400 m was the go.
The second bite in another location came on about 4pm and went through to 5.30 though I suspect sea conditions and the need to have a cold one were the key factors there.

I heard quite a few boats crossing the kaipara bar this morning but didn't switch back to that channel to hear results.

Overal there are fish to catch but patchy. And the stripes are small.
No tuna or Mahi reported that I know of.

So sit back relax cos went don't need anymore of you up here, there arent quite enough fish to share.

These guys will run you down, to find there tonic.
And as an accomplished Asian driver from the big smoke would do, they will run you down.

I too as out there on one of those gin palaces looking to run you little guys over for a change.
We left out of BOI and headed out off the Brett to about 200 then tracked SE out to 330ish. Awesome purple blue water out there the odd solo diving gannet, saw one SB spearfish we think??? Nothing else all day. No bait on the sounder

Mattoo , no secrets. work up was not too far from kumera patch and it went for long time moving north, a lot of gannets. Stripey we saw jumping about 5 times, so got good look, was inside kumera patch about 160 -170 didn't check depth exactly but was just before we saw work up happening which was slightly further out. We headed in direction of free jumper and noticed all the birds flying one way as got closer saw dolphins. Other boats saw free jumping and marlin in same area, heard may been hookup or two after we packed it in about 4.30 pm
There are stripeys being caught in green water but most boats are fishing blue hot water most of day further out, including us. Surprising most action we saw was inside close to favoured traditional grounds.
