Back out again for another day of torment. Had a very slow day yesterday. Perfect conditions with not much biting.
Went to about 105m north of the bar. Good water 23 d temp
Apparently there were plenty of skippies and Albee’s but we never saw them. Only one skip for the whole day for us.
Headed back into 48 of Karekare where there was a lot more bait and bird life. Had one good hit that lasted 20 seconds then fell off. Lure came back with a broken light gauge hook. Yeah yeah I know, don’t take a knife to a gun fight. To be fair that hook was not on its first season or first fish so a lesspon learnt.
Heaps of big Macs behind the bar north end in 40ish metres
Will head there first thing this morning to stock up. Coming up 3-5 at a time on un baited sabiki

Had a great gurnard and snapper sesh off Orua last night and over bar at 0600. Glad I didn’t have to do the ramp with everyone...
We’ve had plenty of Albies today and pulled that lure out. Just saw two blue whales in 160 straight out. Heading in a bit closer now.

Noticed the other day no seiners out there at the 100m cleaning out the skippys , think they know to there are not many round . we didnt pick one up at all . Got a feeling some of these ones today are in shellow 65m or less , going on how much life is there compared to the 120m outwards . keep the troups posted matto

No cigar for us. Action was north up towards muriwai in range of depths it would seem.
Lot caught. 1st two boats I spoke to back huia both had marlin in them. Livies and lures taking those 2 fish.
Bar was little lumpy coming in about 4. Tide started to run out. Good test for 490 stabi in south channel. Didn't break anything so good day out.
Caught up with Phil at beach as well. Think I'll go again Friday

I made the same decision as you supermodel and it didn’t pay off. Was far nicer conditions out there than I had expected in the afternoon. Seeing those blue whales kinda made up for it.
