Just back from New Plymouth where we fished the Farmers and the One base. Lost a fish on the way down and had another bite. Water not that good down that way. 19.6 max temp and water has lost the real blue look. Lot of boats fishing with very few T and R and weighted. We had two more bites over the three days we fished of thee five. 2 cancelled due to the weather. Well run comps down there and I guess that is why we go back year after year. Bought the boat home yesterday and the further nth I came the better the water got.
Will fish the Kawhia farmers so will be interesting to see what turns up. Just feel that all the good water may now be up off the hokianga after that weather bomb a while ago.
Just a comment about Plum Crazys post. I can see where he is coming from. Two years ago we got 17 to the boat. Tagged 14 and kept 3. 2 of which had hooks through there eyes and the other a really big fish which won the Nationals for the heavest stripie that year. 13 of the tagged marlin where caught by first timers. We talked about tagging and boating before we started to fish and I told them about the first fish rule. But also talked about the demise of the yellow fin stocks due to killling every one you get. We have a good camera and vedio gear on the boat and they where more than happy to go that way. Of the fish we have got this year was another by a first timer and he also was more than happy to see his fish swim free.
But at the end of the day we are very lucky to live in a free country where we make our own decesions and if you have a kill them all policy on your boat then that is your choice.

                                                     Good fishing guys

well said Crazy Horse,
ranting and raving about what others do on this site just stops people from posting trip reports...
the site is more about information and helping others catch fish...
what they do with there catch is there business...

Thanks for everything you did for us Eric. may you rest in peace, You were one of the real legends of NZ recreational fishing
