we just got back from 3 days down there... still plenty fish.. just nobody fishing! Lost a Big eye tuna at the boat.... Bugger! would have been the 2nd for us for the season.. And raised a double of stripies had one have a shot and fall off after 20secnds. Water was as good as ive seen anywhere all season. temp is down around 19.5... Mate Reuben was the only other boat out and they also dropped a fish.

Team ninja will be keen for a mission to troll some trophy lures for those marlin and tuna that seem to still be there ,just got to jack up a  few days off work
buying lures is one of those things only beaten by lying-down activities

anarchy, we hooked our big eye in 450m just inside the trench on the 1000 w of the cape.  there was gear set out on the 1000 there and pretty sure that was who was on the radio talking about the big eye and fin.  when we first shot out off the cape the water was green and gold, the further west we came it lit up with good bait, birds and blue water and thats where we got bit.

our track from the first day above, waypoint near the trench is where the commercial gear was set, the first lot of zigzags worked is where we had the big eye on, the second lot of zigzags on the rock shown above is where the double marlin bite came from.

too good mate, got me pretty keen to get down there for a fish, wish this weather would sort itself out.
well done on the fish, just need to get them to stick
pretty keen to nail a sword out from tauranga as well so will just have to wait patiently for next weeks settled weather and make a decision which way to go.
cheers
