Thanks guys, that's why I was having a look...sounds like a spot that's going to get a good looking at in the near future i'd imagine...
70ml of 90deg C water pressurised through 13g of roasted finely ground tamped coffee for 25sec's to make a distinguishing sensory hit called a Double Shot

When talking with one of the guys from the mercury bay club last year a boat hooked a black just south of Red and was going backwards through the cray pots awesome stuff, est 250+kegs

Your right kezza, it has all the attributes in my eyes to hold black marlin, current, open ocean, BAIT and lots of it and all the time too.
We will certainly be putting some effort this season in that area to see what we can pull out of it.
People say if fishing was easy then it would be called catching, I say these people who say that obviously had a bad day's fishing.

The marlin lost at richards rock was estimated 150kg stripey trace broke when the fish was inches away from the gaff.  The guy was targeting kingis was on a TLD25 with a live ky first bait of the day only been in the water seconds when it was smashed baloon popped 5 metres from the boat!

Yeah was a wicked fight. We droped my brother on there boat with some gear. The angler had no harness and was hurting under an hour in. The guys still think it was a strippy, but this topic always causes plenty on discussion.....
The fish Jumped twice, one on the hook up and second near the end of the fight. They had it on for arround 4hours and it was deep most of the fight in came to the surface when they gave it some line.

Sweet fight on braid and fun to be part of.

We had a big day on the water yesterday. Put the lures in just short of the hook and then trolled out to the ammo dump then north to footprint. Came access a big work up of gannets and dolphins along the way smashing saurie but worked it for nothing. Turned at the footprint and ran straight back to the hook. Best water was back towards the hook. Heaps of sunfish seen but no marlin.

Hard luck to the boats that hooked and dropped fish. Sounded like they were in closer.

Has Whitianga been affected by any of the Rena rubbish? Has there been any restrictions been put in place that will effect game fishing?

tony nearly ran over the thing...but they are there..propably very thin..some very big red marks at the pins at the moment might be a big shark/anchorite black as the bite is super weird.
