Was Going to be chasing the big girls with the funny tails at night there on the first weekend of March (Marsden cove comp) but alas my work-mates mate said yes to the M word and I'll be here covering work while he's off drinking free. Never mind payback comes quick as I'll be doing the one base at tuts.

just the one marlin today. a beast though at 293kg. disallowed because get this. the fish had been live baited before and had a circle hook and about 6 foot of line hanging off it with a loop at the end. smashed through the gear and the hook on the lure went through the loop. forgot to look at wat boat but waldo was at the club im sure he'll update soon

That is an incredible story and coincidence Kez1, wasn't the anglers fault, but I guess those be the rules...Cry

It WAS not disqualified let's get this straight ! Whoever thinks it was and started this train of thought should be shot. I have just had club officials ask me to make this very plain that it was a legal capture !!!

Thankyou Lance for clearing that up. Becasue I was thinking how can they disqualify it, the angler did not break any rules, just a very unlucky fish and very lucky angler.

Embarrassed  I remember that guy calling it in the other day ! ! ! ! 1st sailfish ever to be landed in NZ Waters.

Kezza 1 and Catchelot,  my apologies if I was over the top and I agree that Chinese whispers have a way of shedding there own light on a story ! ! !, but, I had some very concerned club members etc feeling for the guy that caught that Blue more than anything should he have read the report of its apparent disqualification so I needed to clear it up quick smart :)

I will have a more full report later, but did Tutukaka - Bream Knoll - Mokes and back over the last 2 days. marginal weather and lost a small Stripey of 75KG yesterday.  At least we are getting them into the back of the boat now !! ! !

7-8 fish caught today I think with a couple to the Knolls and the rest between 112m inside the Pinnacles and then 200m out the back of the knights, home point and Capr Brett/Mumu. Seems the fish have moved in and on talking to Wynn Going this evening those are his thoughts as well.  A number of fish lost and big schools of mahimahi inside the Cape so they are spread through so it seems.

Breem Knolls seems to have gone quiet , 4 Blues taken out of the 260m inside the 440m hole from what I understand.

Tsunami which we were at sea for was interesting,  Blaied out of dodge 2 hours before the surges started but came across some huge sets of swells out at the knolls which were most out of the ordinary.

Looking good for the next couple of days I would say and no need to go toooooo far ! ! , Pity im back at home and off to work tommorrow !

grass hopper when you can grab the beer out of my hand you will be ready to open your own

same as fishing it will happen and happen soon just remember the blond mantra

breath in

breath out

breath in

breath out

and so as in fishing you must first go out then come in and so the circle of life is like code when run complete go back to start.

trolling one knot faster, one degree off course, is where we should have been yesterday? or !
