Was out at the trench last Sunday and Monday. Water temp was 18.6 and colour not to bad. Trolled last 2 hours and first 2 but no luck. Water temp was 19.2 at the 80mt mark on way out and in, may be going the same way as last year as I saw a mako feeding on a dead sun fish. This was the pattern up until about mid Feb then the marlin moved in but before that they stayed in cooler water out wide and stayed away from all the makos in the hot water at 90 to 75 mt mark. Was in Otorohanga today and a mate told me that he had heard that a Marlin had been caught out of the Manakau. True or False????

Looks like a good northerly blow coming. With good weather coming after xmas day. Could be time to hunt the Big-eye.

Well no marlin off the Manukau for us today, but some good size alberts got the first one at 45 m about 6 kg had a bunch that size on the way out to the 110m mark where we hit a patch of them there pulling five 8 to 9 kg rockets then it went dead. Water was blue as had 19.8 most of the day hit a current line and got 20.1 ran down that for half hour but it had all gone quiet .All in all was good to dust of the gear and its looking good out there someones got to get a stick face soon!!
