Well my trip was cut short with that blinkin NW howling in on saturday, but it was a great trip out working back of the Barrier, Barrier Knolls, Breem Knolls and through the Dragons Lair and back into Tutukaka . Water is looking darn good out there, plenaty of skippies, Manta Rays, Birds working,  so its all shaping up. No fishing for  me Saturday so came back to Auckland .

Ive just heard that there were 2 Marlin taken out of Tutukaka today and im awaiting further info and confirmation.  Any one else heard this ?

may well be back up for next Sunday if the weather plays ball !

sounds like another hoax... that picture of catchalot's looks suspect, I think it was a shadow from the outrigger and turtles finger

Headed out on friday afternoon for a reccy and a Tuna hunt from about 12.30  , headed directly east from Toots in flat calm conditions. Lots of of birds past the knights and looked very encouraging, the water temp got up to 20.5 . Hooked and dropped a few skippies on the bungy around the 150-160m. Then the wind came up and we had major swells so had to pull the pin but did come across a nice bait ball in 140 near the surface, trolled around it for a while but it just got to rough.
Felt Good to dust off the cobwebs. Where did that wind come from ? was meant to be dying out in the arfo.

Got out there today.....gave the kumera patch and trench a good work out.... probably half a dozen other boats up and down the coast....
heaps of skippies on and around the kumera patch.....albies from half way between kumara right through to the trench....
good water reaching 21.0 degrees in the heat of the day BUT no sign of a marlin and did not hear of anybody who saw one
had my 11 year old son with me targeting skippies and alberts on 3kg and he now has a pending junior club record for skippies on 3kg....unfortunately none of the alberts jumped on the light gear....
jigged some nice kings up to 18kg on north reef on the way home so all in all a great day despite the lack of marlin
