We came through the Aldie rise yestaday big workups of dolphin and Gannets in the Mayor Channell east side of the rise 1000m moving fast towards the Mayor current strong
 
Had more action on the 500m behind aldies
At mercs very nice heading to Barrier today

Just heard on radio of a Blue estimated at 220 boated by a visiting Canadian aboard Ocean Monarch (I think that is correct).  Going back into Tauranga for weigh in.

Boat on VHF busted a big yellowfin at the boat after 1 3/4 hours, 500m outside Red.  They calling it for over 100kg

just kingi fishing mate.  more predicatable gamefishing at the moment is the smoking 25kg kings! they are cranking.  manage to sneak an hour max. on the albies (and the odd marloon lureWink) at the end of the day but no game trips until the season cranks into gear, in the meantime keeping track of where the action is and we'll knock some off in late jan/feb

as for fish in the vhf.....may have been a bigeye as they were saying was in the 200kg range....

dropped at the boat it seems he was about 5 miles wider than we were. All we found were some alberts but a great day to sort the gear out after the winter layoff

we were out monday and tuesday, monday jigged the aldies then went out to 400 and trolled north to hook, tuesday put lures in and went out to the 712 knoll out behind aldies and then back in, a heap of skippies and albies in close but nothing out wider, heard of three stripies being taken into whangamata on monday over the radio, anyone confirm this? 

giving it a rest for the next few days and will do the tuna on the weekend

was out yesterday despite the bad forecast but wind never really got over 10knots until about 5pm

lures in at aldies out to 500m then north to bottom of dumping ground then into hook, down 200m until middle of the bay and then back in

skippies and albies still in relatively close nothing out wider, wicked blue water and 22 degrees out behind hook and south along 500m line but no marlin seen or hooked by any of the boats out yesterday

gota happen soon
