Talked to a guy today and he was out at the trench the other day and the water was green and two degree colder than inside. They caught albacore tuna of new Plymouth last weekend. Had 20.3 at gannet yesterday. Lost a big mako at the boat. Flying gaff pulled out. He was a big bugger

Got that info from the boys at hunting and fishing New Plymouth. Also a tuna boat got a ton of them off Rags about a week ago on the 1000 mt line. A lot of boats are already heading north so I would think it is about 3 weeks ahead of time.
Managed to get a good mako the other day. Would of gone 60/70 kg if weighted but did not do it as some may say I am a shark hunter. Any sign of a Sword on your side yet Plumb Crazy !!!!!!!!!!!

Was over the Manukau yesterday for a snapper fish and had blue water at the 56m mark.  Had a small school of tuna feeding near the boat.  Dragged a few tuna lures for half an hour after snapper fish but didn't get anything or see anymore schools.  No birds working or anything.
