AlexRecurve wrote: We also went out Friday and it was totally the opposite to the previous trip when we loaded up - the fish were not hungry anywhere. As Gumboot suggests: probably due to the very small tide. We crossed the bar and tried Piha - shallow and deep. Then came back South to Hamiltons Gap tried shallow and eventually found a few fish further out at 40m. But it was real slow. Also had a couple of drifts in the harbour for kings but only had one lack-lustre bite. Should have hooked up as it was a jack-mack and they usually swallow those whole, but the fish was just messing around with it. Nevermind - ended up with 6 snapper and a decent gurnard. Great weatehr and flat seas. Cant complain at that. |
