That's a beauty of a harbour trev legacy, shes a little barrel! We fished the incoming low tide on the banks of the Puraku Chanel today and managed a good haul of Manukau Pannies and a bycatch pair of plump Gurnard.

Nice Trev Rory!   Biggest I've seen from harbour.

That line trimmer powered boat is interesting - cannot imagine that getting anywhere in the Manukau tidal flow LOL but handy if you strike the dreaded red weed!
Good fishing trip nothing breaks, great trip catch fish.

That is a mean harbour trev.

I think its about this time the big Weiti river trevs start to run on the other coast too. Some real sizeable fish. Always a challenge with that soft mouth Legacy, did you have to baby him to the boat? I imagine over sand you just kept constant pressure and let him tire himself out.

Looking at that pic, is it this time of year on the Manukau that the smaller snapper start stripping baits before the carrots get to them? Clearly still plenty caught of size though.....

I just remember omebody posting on here suggesting the piranha snapper become annoying on softer cut baits and a move to firmer baits (KY etc) pays off for both bigger snapper and the carrots?

Only nursed him in once I saw what it was , tough getting him off the bottom thought it could have been a comp winning kahawai or a small kingi until I saw it . Hook fell out once it was netted and in the boat .
Cheers

Had ( another ) very slow days fishing out beyond the bar yesterday.  The last 3 trips have all been shockers.  After 6 hours fishing Dawn till midday ) we had just 2 snapper to show between 2 anglers.  One was a decent 12lb, but it still made for a lacklustre outing.  We tried shallow, we tried deep.  We tried drifting, we tried anchoring.  We tried baits, we tried lures.  Nothing worked.  Fish just weren't hungry.

I realise this also doesnt make for a interesting trip report! - but wondering if anyone else has had more luck?  There were a few boats out.
