Quick question. Carbontex drag washes. Do they like being dry or wet. I know you can run them either way but which is best and what are the advantages/ benefits of the best way/??

Carbontex are best run wet with a light smear of Cals lube or similar

Another question Steve on the Carbontax washers please...
I've heard differing opinions as to whether the metal washers should be replaced at the same time as carbons.
I recently changed to Carbontex in my Daiwa SA20 and was pretty underwhelmed with both the smoothness, but mostly the low new max-drag.
Would replacing the metal washers (smoothies?) help give me a better drag?
Thanks.
