Mate--well done and just in time for the holidays.. Looks good sitting on the water...
Im sure it will go well but be interesting to see how it handles a bit of rougher type weather etc for the ride you get etc.

Hats of to you mate for completing your dream boat... Thumbs UpHandshake

Cheers for the comments boys.

Will tinker here and there with trim etc eventually.

Will need to try it in a quartering sea and following sea. Have to remind myself it is only a 16ft dingy in reality so not to get to carried away. I tried to tip it over in 2ft of water by standing on the side deck and hanging off the console. Managed to get half the hull out of the water, but she didnt tip.

More testing as time permits.

Trimmed the engine in today and had some more testing on calm seas (the fishing sucked!).

By myself I managed 35km/hr (19knots) but still couldn't reach my target 5500rpm at WOT. Probably look at going to a finer prop pitch in the future or 3 blade [unsure why Honda put 4 blade props on small engines actually?].

All in all, it all goes well.

What was the final weight of the boat with the 20 hp engine on? And including you the 19 knots might be the most you can muster from that setup.

Haven't got around to weighing it yet.

Its not the speed I am concerned about, I 'd be happy with 15 knots. I haven't been able to reach the optimum WOT as yet which potentially could mean I am laboring the engine forever with the current prop. They (Honda) put on a pretty generic prop which doesn't suit everyone, tinkering with that will help the engine reach the manufacturers recommended WOT of 5500 rpm. That doesn't mean I am running it at WOT all the time, it just means it is all balanced.

3 blade prop in the same pitch should give me more RPM off the bat. Or I try a 4 blade 9.25x9.

Bit of an update.

Most would have figured my boat was on a US web site for wooden boats. Well, a member there asked for my plans which I sent him.

He is going to build it to 17.5ft and has entered the plans etc into Freeship (CAD software for boat building).

Quite exciting seeing someone else do this. Now thinking of making another one someday.

What is it they say about copying and flattery? Smile

Out of interest approximately what does the finished boat owe you, been thinking about building a little tape and glue dinghy for net setting on the kaipara as a winter project.
