Nice fish Will!
Thousands of rat kings here now, all around 30cms long! Found a few other schools of 50cm fish, but hoping for something bigger.
The babies are hilarious. You have to retrieve as fast as you can to avoid hooking them, which only makes them want the fly even more.
I'd be happy if they all were a metre long

Yeah ours seem to be getting fewer but bigger. Simon hooled this one out nicely today. Same marker as yesterday hooked 2 landed 1. A PB for him and the boat this year.

Thoughts on Meola being fishable this evening? Or too dirty after all the recent rain?

Went out on Meola for an hour after work.

little baitfish being chased around in the pools, I had a couple wee touches but didn't hook up at all.

Saw some mullet getting smashed about 50m out

Some good action on sunday morning just north of rangi - fished in 8m and berleyed back into foul. Snapper to 43cm and trevally to 48cm were great sport - the trevs in particular hard to control. Pink and white deceiver the fly of choice for the day - great conditions.

Hard to post from iPad isn’t it? Anchovy schools off Nth Shore beaches. I had limited success on snaps so took a KY for the pot, ceviche coming up

Got the fly rod out Monday morning while anchored up in close Motutapu.
Fishing down berley trail - sacrilege omg!  - 5-6 snapper and kahawaii found the pink and white weighted pat swift deceiver enticing enough to nail the fly.
Good fun

Glorious day yesterday for a few hours on a Friday afternoon. Pulling these little fighters from rock structure with a flounder fly.
