What he said... but yeah, sounds like you've tried it.

I feel your frustration Will. I'm having a similar time with a bunch of fry feeding kahawai, trevally and skippies at the moment. Just about casting my arm off for minimal results

Three new flies to try tomorrow and every retrieve style known to mankind

The snapper fishing is insane at the moment. I get the kingi buzz as much as anyone, but getting in close to the rocks and pulling snaps out in the half light is first class angling. Plenty of legal fish too.

Yes those snappers sure smash the flys and definetly a trophy fish out there. The kings have been bang on the dot the last 5 days 2 hours after low tide, they hang around for an hour or 2 and then become more scarce. Today i had one king smashing the sand for crabs with its tail in the air and one 20 feet away at the same time chasing top water bait fish, ive got 2 rods set up one at the back and one at the front of the boat so can go for a top water or a bottom fly.

That's a very tactical double setup. Just waiting for you to hit the big one.

God dam, I was just waiting for the line to come up tight on any one of those strips!  Cool

Don't you just hate that!   Funny how they will put so much effort into the chase, then not eat.  Ouch

That's got the heart rate going this morning bro, thanks for sharing Clap

They are definetly feeding off the bottom. Can only be crabs or flounder. Here come the flounder and crab flies. Bring it on.

This sounds interesting Hope the weather holds and you get more shots. It will be quite a revelation if you get a much more positive response to a crab or flounder fly. Looking forward to an update

Those fish are pretty wise in that area. I am pretty sure that just like Brown trout, they are regulars on a regular beat. Its pretty exciting when they are tailing there.
Good work getting bite though. I haven't had much time to fish for them this year off the shore.
