Not sure it will work but seems to be a lot of Coro reports of late in the Auckland topic and individual ones so thought Id try starting it off.

 
Spent Auck anniversary at Matarangi and yakked up the coast a bit. Good 6-8m viz. Maybe 10 in the real salpy areas once you got under them. 
Apart from the spot that I got this guy it wasnt that fishy. He went 18.
Good numbers of crays around and they seem to be getting a bit bigger. Lots of small packys around that havent been there in the past.
No sooner does man discover intelligence than he tries to involve it in his own stupidity.

Nice snap Firey. I got a 8.5kg at the Aldies last week, vis was not fantastic, maybe 12m ish

Great day out from Tairua with LeatherJacket.  Up at sparrows fart and checked out the bar, wasnt breaking hard to the left so we made the call to head out in the takacat.  Headed Slipper Island way searching for Boarfish but being quite new to the area struggled.  LeatherJacket was content to continue playing with snapper so I went off for an explore.  Got buzzed by a couple of good schools of kingfish (lots of them and most were 5-10KG), wife is sick of eating them and they must have known, as one school stuck around for a good 2-3 Mins.
After a bit of weedlining finally came across 4 Boaries. Speared one (came out at just over 9KG), so  headed back to pick up LeatherJacket so he could pick one off too.  They were onto us though and had departed. 
Heaps of boat traffic in the leigh from the wind there were a lot of us tucked into it!
Vis was about 12M or so at Slipper in the leigh and was still quite blue.  Lots of JD about and after nailing a few good pannies Leather Jacket managed a squid then wrapped up with a Boarie of his own. 
Bar coming back in was a bit gnarlier, but managed to follow a good wave back in home.

Awesome day out, cheers Weightless. Good to meet UndieBandit at the ramp on the way back in, him and his mate had got onto the Boaries as well.

I muffed a couple of chances as some better snapper but happy to take home a good feed. I cooked up some of my boarie tonight and decided it had a slight scallop taste to it. Not bad at all, will definitely be looking for more in the future. F'n squid though, they taste good but I must remember to gut them before getting them on the boat, that ink gets everywhere. 

Here's a couple of extra picks to put that Boarie into perspective. Weightless's glory shot and my string-o-death.

I saw that boarie at watchman last week. it was like a horse under the water. I guessed at the time it was 8kg plus. 

Thats a nice haul

Sounds like he got around a bit!   Certainly seem to be a few about the coro area at the moment.
Felt guilty how easy it was to skewer actually, dived in behind him.  Got within 1M or so with gun out to the side, tried to fire...oops safety still on on my Riffe.... turned it off and felt like I could possibly have jabbed it without shooting (not that I was taking any chances).  Are they usually that easy to shoot, or did I catch it in a dopey mood? 
Had some for dinner last night and cant believe how sweet the fillets are.  A bit chewy at this size, but yummy none the less.

I'm no expert having only shot 1 boary but i pretty much dive bombed a pair and neither of them moved - not even when i shot one.  I think it may be the great Boary migration (insert cartoon here)

I swam down on top of my boarie and when my spear was only about a meter above her, she rolled over to get a better look at me...

I dove slipper with spearcrazy, it was nice and clean but very busy with a rod comp on. There were a heap of boaries around (we probably saw 12) i promised myself i wouldnt kill any after doing some damage to the population recently.... anyway 5 minutes later spearcrazy waves me over and demands i go down and shoot a boarie hes just fluffed and lost high in the back, so much for that promise. After that had a few good ones roll in off the sand to check me out but left them alone. Tally at the end of the day was 3 jds and a boarie for me and 2 boaries and 2 jds for him.
