Good evening, New to the forum but would just like to ask if there are any good spot's in Takaha as I will be staying for 4 days over new year and dont know what sort of rod to pack?

I would like to take them all but dont think the misses would allow. lol. I fish for anything.

Cheers for any advice.

What sort of fishing do you prefur? Beach or rocks?

Lots of surfcasting available bro, the fishing has been pretty good to, although at this time of the year the snaper do seem to be quite small, but plenty of em. Any of the beaches will hold good numbers of snapper from Maraenui, Omio from the south to Waihau Bay to the north. Lots of rocks to poke around and fish off for snapper and East capes only a skip away.

Kingfish will be around in good numbers around all the rocks and water ways from the beach. Its just a case of deciding what you feel like doing and enjoy and rolling with it. A surf rods probley going to be more versatile but there are areas there to cater for all needs......

Awsome, Cheers Chad, I do prefer the mobile rock approach and apparently the Hotel which im staying in has Kayak's to borrow so I will try to get out in one of them for some action. Can I expect fish on soft baits and spinners/lures?
I see on google the bays you have mentioned I will look forward to this!!!!!!!

Cheers again richard

Mate, if you get out on a kayak, the softbait fishing is fantastic with a little burley.  You will really enjoy it. The western point of Omio fishes very well. As does many of the spots along Tekaha. Take ya camera
