would love to know if you have mackinaw in New Zealand, the closest I have come is they were planted in Lake Pearson and Canterbury, Iam avid at fishing them in America and Canada would love to have some information about them here?

Thank You Mokie

I would like to have mackinaw in lakes Kaniere, Hauroko, Te Anau, Wakatipu, Hawea, Coleridge and those that have a depth of 200m or more so they can grow big and provide a better fight than those at Lake Pearson.

A facebook user has seen a picture of a 4-5lb fish of that kind at Jan. 2015, sadly it was killed as the young angler mistook it for a poor-conditioned brown trout!
Perhaps Fish & Game would take a survey in Lake Pearson to see if they can find and capture them as breeding stock
P.S. How to identify
Mackinaw resemble poor conditioned brown trout; but the body is a dark gray; can vary from brown to black. The fish itself has white spots that cover all around the body. There are dark wavy lines on the fins and the tail is deeply forked(think of a brookie with a tail that's a bit like a kahawai). Slender body like a brown or a rainbow.
