Hi there,
We are new to kayak fishing, and have just purchased a fishing kayak with an Eagle Cuda 128 fish finder (which we also know nothing about!), and when we turn this on it shows only a blank screen.  It makes beeps and things all by itself when out and about, and when we push buttons etc, so we are assuming it's just a screen thing?  We have gone through the manual which we downloaded and have pushed the relevant buttons to reset the factory settings, but still we just get a blank (dark) screen.  We've tried pushing the up and down arrows to change the contrast when we first turn it on but this does nothing.  We've checked all connections which all seem fine, battery plugged in correctly etc.  We are assuming that maybe the unit is faulty, the guy we bought it from said he hadn't used it for ages but when he last used it, it worked fine... anyone have any ideas?
Thanks, Cheryl.

Check obvious things like battery voltage at plug end if you have access to a voltmeter and all connections for rusty dirty joins. If good healthy 12v at plug end I would suspect the head unit and I also stuffed my 1st fishfinder which was a cuda 128 got water in it and stuffed the lcd screen.

Thanks for your reply - we checked those things and still no joy.  We are also fairly certain it's the head unit but we just wanted confirmation from someone "in the know" that we hadn't missed anything obvious!  So your response was very helpful - thanks heaps!

check the pin connections at the back of the head unit, these often corrode, best cure ive found is vasaline!, but that wont fix um if there shot.
