Didnโ€™t seem to matter too much, they were taking whatever we had on out deeper but in shallow the fluoro red and yellow ones seemed to be getting more strikes

Got out on SAT and SUN
SAT was a magic day - mill pond and good KY numbers (best on lure and jig)
SUN was a nice day too but wind got up so went in - feed of KY though so happy.
No snaps but I reckon they are in the harbour.
Any harbour luck folks?
Cheers

we shot along matakhana first light saturday, microjigs were the go with the fish fairly fixated on eating whitebait sized things (15-20G Microjigs matched the hatch), ended up with 11 snapper, 3 trevally and 7 kahawai.  Trevs and snapper were  hoarding up the bait and could be seen surface feeding on them....  The kahawai appeared very late in the morning...

That is very interesting strx7

As a SWF'er the prospect of surface feeding snapper is pretty exciting.
Simon's situation was grave so he used gravy.

I've had harbour snaps chew open those red onion sacks at night. I no longer use them because of that. Similar size fish as Bite mentioned.

They can be such aggressive feeders when in the mood and their teeth would make short work of those sacks...and then watch them follow the escaped berly down stream Pinch

When I turned up at the Sulphur Point ramp at 7.30 this morning there was not a vehicle or boat trailer in sight. Being a first for me I was thinking I had perhaps missed a gale or tsunami warning. I'd promised my wife I wouldn't get farpointitus and shot up the side of Matakana a few Ks. Picked a couple of good kahawai out of a workup then dropped the pick in just over 50 feet. Put a burly pot down and since there was stuff all current threw out a couple of unweighted baits. Got a limit between 32 and 38cm in a couple of hours and back home in Rotorua before lunch. Best bait by a long shot was trout.

Those trout belly flaps make great strayline baits. I think the combo of the white skin and oily flesh is a winner.

I went out Tuesday in that crappy weather and there was KY for Africa it was crazy.
I had a crack at trying to get a couple snaps but nothing so got couple KY on soft bait rod and called it.
Iโ€™ve been struggling the most I ever have in my life lately and itโ€™s getting abit gutting. Was pretty happy with KY

Went for a fish this afternoon up the harbour and around by the Railway bridge.  No action at all, not even a bite in 3 hours.  Went out to the entrance and caught 3 small KY before returning to the ramp.  Still a little cold I think
