I was in the harbour yesterday afternoon. Nice and flat, no bites til after sunset. Then quite a few in a short space of time.
What baits and rigs are you using kitno?

Softbait rod, single 7/0 recurve tied directly to leader, cast out, let it get 30 odd metres out, sliding sinker then goes over mainline, 1oz, open bail arm, let it drop just behind boat.
Plus one ledger right behind the boat.
Sit n wait.
Top 10 finish
2024 Grunter Hunter.

Identical setup to me. What baits were you using, and were you in shallows or channel?
Thanks

I didn't realise the shallows could be productive in daylight. I spent all afternoon in the deep channel for nought, before moving to the shallows at sunset and getting hits.

I tried the shallows as you recommended kitno. Plenty of bites and takes. Lots of little pickers and stolen bait but eventually picked up enough for a family dinner. Only kahawai, but a nice day had by all.

Hi Team

Anyone fish up Karewa way today?

Looking to head up that way tomorrow morning. Guessing 20m'ish will be the way to go. Any advice appreciated.

Cheers

Ted
Simon's situation was grave so he used gravy.

Well done!  So they are out there then.  Were you North of Karewa on the papa or closer to Matakana?
