Hope the fishos this season choose to tag plenty and keep bugger all, would hate this fishery to go the same way as so many fisheries in the past - most relevant (and alarming) the Tunny fishery in the North Sea, circa early 20th Century.

The comm's seem to be doing their utmost to wipe the bluefin of the face of the planet, lets us rec's show them a bit of mercy in the face of so much adversity...

What are you asking RAV?
I have the 2010 Record book and I am a member if I can help at all...(meaning I have more priviledges within their website)

Cheers

Does anyone know if many trawlers are working there yet, if so  are they the Kiwi or foreign boats or both.
Cheers

RAV -

I think it's something like this mate - will track down the info (Records NZ and IGFA should be on the NZ Sport Fishing Website)

Women's
Northern Pacific Bluefin
All Tackle and 37kg record = 239
60kg record = 213

And I think Enchanter's fish reported in this thread only just missed the All Tackle Men's by a few kgs.

...but my money is on Tomastats this season - the guy has probably done more NZ Bluefin than anyone else, invested lots of blood, sweat and tears and is owed a big tank of a tunny.....you can dooooeeeeet cuz!!! and the lady's All Tackle for the WahooWomen....Thumbs Up

I think Cerveza put in a claim for a womens WR last year, 283? on 60. We got that 239 on 37 on the nui last year and I'm pretty sure cervezas on 60 was bigger than ours, could be wrong
