well as alot will know I had a thought and that was to catch a marlin on my Jig rod, could not afford or really justify the price of a stella and went for a Finor OS 95 spooled it up with Xzoga PE8 and matched it to my Xzoga Custom 500. now I laughed when the knockers said i was wasting my time, you need a stella bla bla bla of course the knockers new all this from their vast experiences chasing marlin in this wayLOL, so any ways 1.5 hours of tussle from a stationary boat produced this for my troubles. 125.4 k of rampaging marlin, dam I love these fish
Personally I would like to thank Matt at Just Fishin and his dad Shaun for the hours we spent deciding on what we were going to do and what with, in the end it came down to my desision and at the time money was an issue, cheers for the advice and Matt thanks hugely for making the custom rod up for me, it did the job with ease mate.
Rod XZOGA CUSTOM
Reel FINOR OFF SHORE 95
Line XZOGA PE8
general rig 2m bite leader 400lb shogun, windon 2m 200lb dacron double loop sampo swivel catspawl to the swivel hook was an eagle claw staight shank circle designed to tow baits, you cant buy them over here I got mine from Aussie

yes I know its not on a jig but i use the same gear to catch kings, it was taken on a live bait.

Yeh knockers normally the ones not game enough to give new things a go.

World wouldn't / Sport wouldn't progress if it wasn't guys with the balls prepared to push some boundaries.

Big ups BA, and up yours to the critics, love your work Clap

choice one BA...I still remember the look on Watson's face when he got his first one on a 'jig-spin' combo....straight away said he'd find it tricky going back to standard big game gear after that.....

so how close to the bottom of the spool did ya get?...we gunna get a full report out of you??

ClapSweet one mate, premo fish!! how much line does that reel hold? an what kg of drag did you have the reel on?  I'd love to try get my first on a jig rod an reel...
I was not really interested in game fishing because of the bulky gears, but your success (an others) has me itching to "hook" one...in a few years.
So trade me goes the finor? "Used once, fully spooled, $1 reserve"
