We are going to Broadbeach Queensland for a holiday in July (2004).  Can anyone recommend a fishing charter for that area.  We are new to fishing and are keen to go on a charter and would prefer a recommendation  if possible.

I have used one charter company over there, will try and hunt down the name. The trip was ok. Slow for a start, and then I caught a 30lb mackerel tuna. Which put up a bit of a fight.

Cheers Woody.

Last year we stayed at "The Broadbeach" condo at Broadbeach, GC. while at the Gold Coast Rugby Carnival. If this is the same one you'll be at, there is a shipload of pamplets there of what to do etc, including Charters and various fishing options. If you're staying elsewhere, then any of those places should have this info. Have fun. Cheers.

welcome New2Fishin'

try joining up and posting here:

www.pakula.com/marlin

clearly state what species or what sort of charter you want to do as most of these guys are marlin crazies....but a high percentage are good blokes and live in Queensland.

you never know you might get an invite with a local?...this would be by far a better option.

Thanks to everyone for your replies.

We went to Paihia about 3 weeks ago and did a charter but got zip (excluding the dory that spat the live bait as soon as it got near the boat).  Will try that web site you never know might just get lucky.

By the way this is a great site.... Has lots of great info.

No problem.  Expect a report in July sometime.  Have heard that the charter operators say us kiwi's are pains because we won't keep small stuff - keep throwing them back!  Guess their size limits are small, doesn't seem right to keep the small stuff.
