Just somewhere we are considering buying into when the economy goes south way it should. With NZ borrowing 100s of billions in 2008 which avoided our real estate dipping 30%, typically kiwis saw that as a sign we should borrow 100s billions more, meanwhile the US finding a new way to do over the economy, watch, the china hustle if you have netflix, it might be on youtube. either way the slight down turn imo could be the start of something most kiwis thought impossible. we do tend to not watch the financial news and stick out heads in the sand a bit.
anyway i think Whangarei is the way forward for Auck. Not fast train to Taurunga. We need trains to the north shore, and like they wanted satelitle cities to Sydney via train, ie parra, penrith, Newcastle, Wollongong etc, i think Whangarei is the obvious choice for investment in both business and life style (real estate).I think an extension via high speed with intermittent stops is the right way forward. Would truely open the option of living north of Auckland.
We are looking at either Whangarei heads or Tutukaka/Matapouri.
Back to your fishing, Ive never fished inside the Harbour and not sure if its too shallow to harbour a good size of fish? I use to fish Marsden Pt for Kingi 30 years ago, so I dont see why edibles arent inside the harbour?
Id likely be looking at a 22-27ft centre cabin for overnighting at both the chicks and poor knights, despite the reserve the Mrs loves diving out there and I take my free diving gear.
I imagine that whole bream bay sandy area holds fish.
Like New Plymouth, Whangarei has really done itself up in recent years, with the marina walk way etc. There are even IT jobs. I just see it getting better and better.
We have also been considering, Keri Keri and New Plymouth. But for mew Whangarei is the next natural progression post economic apocalypse.
