Had a wee look through the topics list here and there are a few ditties but nothing specific.

I know there are a heap of people on here with the good oil and have built rods or are interested in exploring making their own creations.

Any tips tricks appreciated please.

I am also looking into building my own rod this winter.... Maybe there should be a rod building forum on this site to help concentrate the info into a single area ....

I built a rod with a solid fiberglass blank and made the handle on a wood lath the most technical part is getting the rod guides in the right place to load the rod evenly, this rod has proved to be a favorite and I hardly get to use it. Total cost with reel seat and guides was about $30 and it has bought much joy, I recomend having a go.

Check out Dale P Clemens books on rod building. Definitive books and all you will ever need. Not cheap but will save you making dumb errors. Great rod wrapping book also.

Check out rod crafters guild. Lots of articles. Youtube is not that great to be honest. MAny videos skirt over basic stuff.

Building a rod is often two to three times more costly than buying an equivalent.

Having said that, it is rewarding. Main thing to resolve is a jig which can be a simple set of supports/ Loads of ideas on the web.

If you want specific info  or detail just ask.

There three types of people, those who watch things happen, those who let things happen and those who make things happen.
