pacific pilchard 6in a close second.
she was only a fishermans daughter, but she reeled at the sight of my rod!.

You all have rocks in your heads.

The best game lure is the Legend Merlin in Aussie Green over Gold running on the short rigger.  Its gold cobber
I would rather laugh with the Sinners, than cry with the Saints

Two favourites at opposite ends of the price scale.
Broadbill billbasher in blue and transulcent, 400lb leader, single 11/0 hook run in close short or long corner. Hooked its first marlin within 30 mins first time in the water which turned out to be a competition winner.
Black Magic Jellybean, 300lb leader, single 9/0 hook run off short rigger. Heavier hooks and leaders seem to kill its action. Good rough weather lure.

Favourite???? not really, hard to get emotional about a lump of steel most productive definitely....

Legend Unicorn, Flying fish, Blue, Silver and Yellow on Shotgun.  Got us first marlin I think for Whangaroa this season (86kg).  First YFT last season, and always gets some interest sitting at shotty.

Favourite... well that is always a secret.

But in the pretty resin lures I have a very nice Red Gill in brown and white that the ex girl friend got me for my birthday year before last.  It has got a number of bill rashes on it and is often nailed in the middle of the pattern.  Run it on Short Rigger.  Actually wondering why the GF is an ex when she chooses such an awesome lure.  May need to call her up the birthday is looming...

I simply can not go passed my broadbill custom bait runner.. It has a dyed blue resin head and blue and white outer skirt over a black inner - it has been hit 5 times in 4 trips and had a few follows to boot.  Lost it to presumably a good blue that spooled my entire 50w penn of 24kg.  Went straight in and brought another.
My lumo sproket and broadbill custom old blue in angry must also get a mention

i mainly livebait for marlin with kahawai black magic gz9 hooks and 150lb trace. but favourite lure would be the black magic manukau plunger NO1 with a single hook rig on 300lb trace. i tend to find if marlin are hungry they arent overly fussy on lure selection its the bad days where you will need the right colour, head shapes etc.
