No HLD that looks like either the Kerikeri Inlet or Whangaroa Harbour, just a bit further "north of the city". Desperate times when you have to take photos of the water mateThumbs%20Up Hope there are a few left up your way, will be up there next week if all goes to plan - I'll bring the beers!

advice from limitless, better position to hookup on fish. my brother has been using his at the stern and i have been out fishing him. stern is good for casting and hooking fish as the jig sinks  but not good for the stray lining and jigging technique which is how i catch most of my fish. with the sea anchor at the bow i hook up on the way down on the bottom and while jigging and winding in. most of the boats in the area are using bait or must be drifting too fast. i invested in one of limitless's sea anchors and never looked back also the yak seems to sit nicely in a big swell with the sea anchor at the bow.

Nice effort and info (apart from the spot) fotoman, those fish are far better than the 10cm snapper I caught yesterday on softbait (my first fish in 3 trips). Gives me hope..

Thanks for that advice Fotoman. I never considered doing it like that. Will give it a go. If the others laugh at me hopefully I can shut them up with some good fish LOL.
Do you drop to the bottom and jig up and down or do you let it run back out upwind a way  and then retrieve ?

The guy I bought my yak off advocated drifting with drogue at front... I've tried it but relative lack of success to date is just that and probably has not much to do with where the drogue is deployed.

Lost my anchor last night - more accurately I cut it off before I turtled trying to retrieve it. $6 hunk of lead from The Warehouse so only damage is to the environment.  Fished out from Castor Bay, got one keeper snapper.
