Dan of The Duke in Russell; his first 20-lb snapper from a kayak (or from anywhere), caught on 6 September 2012 softbaiting:

The fish was in absolutely beautiful condition, and gave Dan a hard fight.

Dug this out of the albums from two winters ago....

First 20 +lber from the yak, and only one i have kept (mounted in the man cave).
Caught in 6m of water between Matakatia and Little Manly. Thankfully he headed for open water instead of the kelp!

Caught on Shimano 4000 FA paired with Shimano Starlo Stix rod. Softie used was a 5 inch nuclear chicken on a 1/2 once 3/0 nitro jighead.

Awesome fight lasted bout 7 mins.

Official weight was 11.87 kg or 26.1 pounds

Caught on the west coast of wellys. not sure how heavy but i'ld say around the 3-4 kg mark. First time catching these fish they put up an awesome fight.

Caught them off an old penn longbeach 10kg rod reel combo. (she's going on 11 next year and still going hard). 2/0 hook with a strip of squid.
