Also what size Lucanus were you using?

Tongue2 and 3 oz out deep boo..seems to be plenty for the depth in most conditions..

 
bill,  i aint bought from that site, couldnt quite make the minimum order requirements...Confused
 
 
today was good too..me and chong had a even tussel on the size/numbers front..the white/creme coloured one was used all day..bent hooks again..

Very Jelous, and way out of my range....I'm stuck at home with two broken ribs to show for a onesided tussle with a ladder and staircase...again.
Brightside is I may have a freeday for a trip north next week

These are similar jigs I picked up in Japan recently. 
 
Had a play with a squid skirt, assist hook & swivel head and hey presto -
 
give it death!
