Hi guys

Orere Point is a place ive been quite alot last summer.

Ive found that fishing off the rocks at the point on the main beach can produce some good fish but there are often alot of small snapper taking the bait before the bigger ones get a chance. Last time I was there i got a nice 7 pounder and a visiting South African caught a decent Kingi on a floating pilchid.

If u want to find an easier way to the point instead of going down to the main beach by the old Half Pipe, when you pass the dairy next to the Caravan Park turn left and you can eather go to the boat ramp if you have a key and walk  just a few minutes to the point or if you dont have a key you will see some path ways on the right side off the road which follow down to the beach.

Hope to off helped

You can fish anywhere with 3kg. Just depends how often you want to replace your terminal tackle.

Nsane. Some parts of it are quite rocky. You'd get broken off too often in my opinion.

Should be good off the rocks around orere. Have been fishing a short cast from the rocks between kkbay and orere. Did well last nite with a few 2kg snaps anchored 20m off ruakaka point (spelling?) at kkbay.
Cheers

Went to this spot at Orere point the other day around the left of the boat ramp.
Weather was a bit choppy and the current was heading north.

Fished it over low tide into the evening and had some good success. A few pannie snaps and a decent KY, plus a big snap (at least 3kg) which we landed, but lost after he flipped off the hook and out of our hands back into the water LOL.

Went back the next day, this time the wind was dead and the current was heading south. Had no luck at all and only a couple small bites.

Watch out for the slips down the walkway.

I grew up spending summers out at Orere Point and fished the far northern point almost every day during summer as a Kid (we called that part of the point Snapper Rock)
