Looks like a great time on the water and several feeds caught. Piwikiwi - nice king for the new rod and reel. Looks like I need to bring some white SB with me in a couple weeks.

CB I like the white for sure.

Dale that's actually a really cool photo. The lighting and sea look awesome. Bloody good fish too.

Yeah it was a real tough fight with that fish, it was as wide as my yak and that’s 68cm wide, but was only to glad to put it back.Like they say plenty more fish in the sea.Well it is at the moment Papamoa is goin off, ended up with another 3 snappers in the mid forties. It was also good to see and meet some new faces out there too.

Anyone fishing a Penn Spinfisher Vi reel here? I need a new eggbeater and that Penn looks good.

What size are you all running, 3000, 4000?

Na had a rig down most the time only managed some small snaps and cod. There was a dude anchored on the reef first thing but he didn’t get any either from what I heard but had caught some the day before. Would potentially sell my slammer lll 3500 if your interested.

Thanks for the offer DT. I've brought a Spinfisher Vi2500.

I got them close to but not on the closest in foul patch. Finicky buggers they are.

Dale I had the 3000 and the 4000 and found the 4000 to heavy for soft baiting , the 3000 is marginal check out there weights, found the shimano nasci 4000 a good reel it has a large drag washers and very light at a 180 buck . And a lot nicer to use than the spin fish , I have still got my 3000 as a back up reel you are welcome to try it

The Penn Slammers are quite heavy too and servicing of them tricky due to all the waterproofing.
I think the Stradic line is my preference in the $200 to $300 price bracket .

Siennas allday. The thing with the slammer is you don’t need to do the same level of servicing due to the waterproofing Piwi.

I pulled one of my Siennas apart and couldn't get it back together 😁 but at $54 no drama. I like the insides of the Stradics nice solid parts nothing unnecessary.
